Senior Data Governance Engineer

On behalf of our client, a leading name in the Electricity & Energy sector, we are looking for a Senior Data Governance Engineer to join its growing team. 

As a Data Governance Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing, maintaining and ensuring the policies, procedures and technology solutions for the effective management and security of the organizations data. As part of the Data Governance Pillar, you will work closely with Data Owners/ Data Stewards, IT and Project Managers to support data governance initiatives across the organization. 

Your day-to-day

• Design and implement a comprehensive data governance framework (data quality, data stewardship, metadata management, and data security)
• Develop policies, standards, and guidelines for data governance processes
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment of data governance strategies with business objectives
• Enhance, Update and Monitor the Data Governance Platform in terms of the Business Data Catalogue/ Data Lineage
• Evaluate, Implement, and Manage data governance tools and technologies
• Ensure the scalability and performance of data governance solutions according to Data Governance Framework
• Participate and lead workshops with business stakeholders, to gather business requirements in Functional
• Specification Documents and update the Data Catalogue
• Perform data profiling and database structure research to understand relevant data elements along with their definitions and use
• Collaborate with Data Stewards and Data Owners to ensure that appropriate Data Quality rules and controls are in place within their process
• Implement Data Quality reporting through the definition and implementation of business, data and system related control and remediation frameworks
• Review Data Quality metrics and scorecards with support from Data Stewards

What you will need

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other relevant field
• 3+ years of relevant work experience in Data Governance or Data Management
• Experience in implementing SQL and Python coding 
• Experience with Data Governance tools such as SAS Business Data Network, SAS Dataflux or MS Purview will be considered an asset
• Experience in implementing and understanding SAS Code will be considered an asset
• Good analytical abilities and problem-solving skills 
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English
