On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Head of Project to develop and implement project management systems aligned with long-term business objectives. The role involves setting priorities, allocating resources, and mitigating risks, while overseeing project planning to ensure tasks are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Leading a team of six, you will mentor and resolve conflicts, ensuring their professional development. The position requires maintaining regular communication with government entities, internal and external departments and management. Ensuring compliance with regulations and implementing continuous improvements and training initiatives are essential responsibilities.

A day in the life of a Head of Project:

As Head of Project, you will setup project priorities, allocate team resources and develop risk mitigation strategies. Overseeing the project planning processes, you ensure tasks are completed on time, within scope, and on budget, while implementing quality control measures. Leading a team of six, you mentor and resolve conflicts, fostering skill development. Regular communication with departments, management, and stakeholders is key. You will manage budgets, generate status reports, and prepare financial forecasts, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards. Continuous improvement and staff training are integral to your role.

 

Your day-to-day:

  • Develop and implement project management systems supporting long-term business objectives.
  • Establish project priorities, allocate resources, identify potential risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Oversee project planning, ensuring efficient execution within scope, timelines, and budget.
  • Implement quality control measures to meet required standards and specifications.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a project team of 6 members, addressing conflicts and ensuring skill development.
  • Maintain regular communication across departments, management, and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with customers, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Manage project budgets, generate regular status reports, and prepare financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, providing training opportunities for project management staff.

 

What you will need;

  • University degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the Aerospace industry, with significant (5+ years) experience as a project Manager handling budgets of 5m+.
  • Experience integrating satellite systems/subsystems and delivering flight hardware/software to space.
  • Good knowledge of Space Systems & Management principles and project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall).
  • Personal and technical leadership skills to inspire and guide project teams.
  • Excellent decision-making skills under pressure and with incomplete information.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with experience in managing project budgets, cost control, and contracts with vendors.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills with stakeholders, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Strong negotiation skills for securing favorable terms and resolving conflicts.
  • Strong analytical skills for understanding complex problems and devising action plans.
  • Excellent English and Greek language skills; fluency in another European language is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel.
